Job Description

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is the leading provider of radar sensor systems. We provide war fighters the most accurate and timely information available for the network-centric battlefield. The Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) Airborne Early Warning & Reconnaissance Systems (AEWRS) Department requires an experienced Lead Sustainment Engineer to provide technical leadership to program execution. The AEWRS department provides comprehensive Program Engineering and Systems Engineering support of Secure Sensor Solutions (SSS) AEWRS and Advanced Concepts and Technology (ACT) Advanced RF programs. We are growing - and expanding our Maryland-based opportunities.

Responsibilities include management and execution of all aspects of a multi-year prime production, fielding and sustainment program with an initial value of $50M and the potential capture of over $100M in follow on contracts. Responsibilities include:
  • Leading a large, multi-disciplined, diverse team of system design and system integration engineers from pre-proposal activities, through the competition, and through program execution.
  • Will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers that include leading the execution of integration and test activities, problem resolution and verifying that the deliverable products meet all program and customer requirements.
  • Will lead design reviews, test/production readiness reviews, gate reviews, trade studies and other program/customer reviews as required to keep the Team on track.
  • Support new/follow-on business proposals and ROMs as required by the program.
  • Support the professional development of team members and ensure senior technical personnel "pass on" knowledge to more junior personnel.
  • Provide development feedback and information back to functional organizations
  • Builds and maintains relationships and networks with other companies and key suppliers, as well as other Raytheon businesses as required

This individual represents the company and AEWRS to the customer, provides program status to the Program Manager, and shares information and customer assessment data with the team for use in achieving the customer’s mission objective.

Required Skills:
•Minimum 12 years of related engineering work experience
•Program Management experience and domain knowledge, strong communications and customer relationship skills and problem solving skills
•Working knowledge of EVMS, IMS, & IMP tools for managing programs
•Demonstrated ability to lead large cross functional teams and drive innovation and efficiency across multiple programs
Demonstrated ability to manage geographically dispersed teams
Must possess an Active DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain additional SAP/SAR clearance(s)
•U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.


Desired Skills:
•Raytheon (or equivalent) Program Management Certification
Earned Value Management System certification
•Logistics support and management of complex systems with multiple sources of supply and distributed repair depots/OEM repairs
•Minimum 10 years of experience as an Engineering functional manager, Integrated Project Team leader or Program Management experience
•Experience in dealing with government customers, management, and technical staff
•Excellent communication and facilitation skills in dealing with management, technical staff, and internal / external organizations
•Excellent written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills
•Strong organizational skills

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related STEM field
