Job Description:
The Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) division of Raytheon is seeking an engineering subject matter expert with experience in Electro-Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) products, production and development programs. The individual must be self-motivated and demonstrate technical leadership while interfacing and partnering with Engineering, Factory Management, Supply Chain and subcontractors, Program Management, and Operations Assembly and Test. The candidate will be engaged in efforts to identify and resolve product line issues and hours per unit (HPU) challenges and use expertise and partnerships to drive cost reduction initiatives and lead cross functional teams to implement improvements. This position will reside in a SAS Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) department that supports the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems (ISRS) Mission Area.

Job related activities include:
  • Technical oversight for defect-free assembly and test of Raytheon built hardware
  • Lead and drive root cause corrective action (RCCA) investigations in the factory and at supply base to improve defect-free, performance compliant on-time product deliveries
  • Cross-functional team collaboration and partnering for cycle time and cost reduction improvements
  • Assisting in non-standard troubleshooting; more complex failure mode resolution
  • Coordinate efforts between system and sub-assembly level troubleshooting
  • Partner with IPTLs to drive technical decisions when there are conflicting views within sustaining engineering team
  • Engineering leadership and successful solution implementation.
  • Collaboration and partnering with design teams to leverage current contract corrective actions to yield follow-on contract improvements in technical performance, producibility and manufacturability of product
  • Integration and test activities in a hardware/software laboratory and production environment

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering development, Integration and Test, and/or production of hardware
  • Experience with EO/IR systems in a production environment
  • Root cause and corrective action experience
  • Cost Reduction Initiatives experience
  • Strong organizational, coordination, planning, and team building skills
  • Ability to lead cross discipline engineering teams
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities on multiple tasks
  • Ability to manage suppliers, sub-contractors and support requirements flow down
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Advanced degree in a related field
  • Lead and/or support transition of design to production
  • Obsolescence review, resolution, and design refresh
  • Raytheon Earned Value Management certification and experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM)
  • Proposal experience and Basis of Estimate (BOE) generation
  • Active Secret Clearance

Required Education (including Major): Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering or a related discpline
