Job Description

The Advanced Concepts and Technology group within Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is looking for a Lead Systems Engineer to assist in the development of a flexible and assured open systems architecture for MUM-T (Manned Unmanned Teaming); for integration onto existing air vehicles and missions systems.

The LSE will influence the technical performance of all Systems Engineering activities and will assume the responsibility of all engineering decisions impacting system capabilities development, integration, verification, and work products delivery while ensuring the product meets all technical specifications, operational requirements and customer expectations. The LSE will provide technical leadership of peer groups and technical mentoring to program engineers, including close coordination with the program Chief Engineer and IPTL’s, while also working closely with the Program Manager. Tasks includes architecture development, CONOPS development, trade studies, modeling and simulation, systems/software/hardware requirements analysis, as well as integration, validation and verification. The LSE will be responsible for the generation and management of artifacts associated with a Technical Baseline which include Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs) / Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), operational views, architectures, compliance matrices, system specifications, interface requirements specifications and system designs.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of System Engineering Experience
  • Experience with requirements development, flow down, analysis, verification and validation,
  • Experience with performance budgeting.
  • Experience in architectural trade studies, signal processing, test data analysis, integration and verification.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to an engineering team including suppliers throughout the entire product life cycle.
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership experience and proven record of accomplishment.
  • Ability to effectively lead multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals
  • Experienced presenter with prior responsibility for dealing with customers, management, technical staff, and internal / external organizations.
  • Experience in preparing and delivering briefings to management and customers
  • Clearance required day 1 AND role requires access to US only data
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active DoD Secret Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience integrating autonomous systems utilizing the FACE (Future Airborne Capability Environment) Standard.
  • Experience working on the DARPA CODE program
  • Experience with utilizing (LVC) Live, Virtual Constructive environments for testing
  • Experience with CONOPS trades and operational analysis for implementation
  • Knowledge of Mission Systems from an integration and test perspective.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with presenting and reporting to customers and program offices.
  • Experience with all Gates and IPDS/IR processes to ensure technical and execution feasibility
  • Ability to work within cross-functional teams to engage the client, comprehend the client's problems, develop strategic analytical products, support requirements analysis, including process and systems analyses, support the development of business and system architectures, and define actionable system requirements.
  • Ability to mentor and lead engineering personnel to collaborate with members of other teams to accomplish problem resolution and other tasks in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of Systems level Concept of Operations
  • Experience with proposal development and technical writing, including generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Experience with modeling and simulation of autonomous systems
  • Experience in IV&V planning, test methodologies and test requirements development for autonomous systems
  • IPTL & EVMS experience
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance

  • BS in Engineering, Sciences, or Mathematics
