Job Description

This position is in the Corporate US Business Development organization on the Missile Defense team and located in Rosslyn, Va. Senior Manager with primary responsibility for driving company growth in the Missile Defense customer community including C4ISR, by providing exceptional customer knowledge and relationships, identifying and qualifying business opportunities, guiding strategies and supporting pursuits, improving competitiveness, being a catalyst for business synergies, and leading cross-company business development initiatives to success. This position will report to the Vice President for Missile Defense.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Act as voice of the Missile Defense customer(s) and present business opportunities, market assessments to Raytheon senior program and business leadership, reflecting knowledge of DoD acquisition rules, customer needs and requirements, regulations, trends, budgets, legislation, politics and competitive intelligence
  • Continually interface and build positive relationships with senior and working level current and potential customers in MDA, OSD, and the COCOMs to understand their requirements, desires, and concerns
  • Know Raytheon products, services and emerging technologies. Be prepared to explain capabilities to the customer to solve both short-term capability gaps and emerging requirements.
  • As a senior member of the Missile Defense BD team in the National Capitol region, support interaction with senior customer officials in MDA, OSD, and the COCOMs to create and build business opportunities for product lines, business capabilities / segments
  • Use competitive intelligence, market information, intimate customer knowledge, select consultants, think tanks and business skills to develop customer value propositions that support business solutions / captures/winning proposals
  • Identify growth opportunities for Raytheon businesses; provide customer-focused marketing support through direct engagement with MDA and other Defense customers
  • Collaborate with the other members of the MDA Team and other USBD Vertical Teams in OneRTN work groups
  • Sustain an ethical and professional environment, including a strong foundation for diversity and inclusion
  • Possess the highest standards of leadership and integrity; ethical standards beyond reproach
  • Demonstrate inclusive and collaborative behaviors consistent with Raytheon Values. Perform all duties in accordance with established company policies, industry standards, regulation and law
  • Develop and present accurate, concise, and timely opportunity decision briefings for senior and executive management reviews
  • Participate in cross-company, cross-corporate working groups and review teams to enhance proposals, capture, business development and overall performance of the company

  • Twelve plus years of experience in progressively more responsible leadership positions
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline
  • Active Secret Level clearance or higher
  • Demonstrated success dealing with all levels of the DoD, Services, MDA, COCOMS and other defense contractors
  • Proven ability to develop effective professional relationships and customer intimacy through personal influence – proactive, responsive, consistent and persistent interaction
  • Understands customer requirements and mission needs with a focus on collaboration; identifies opportunities for strategic alliances, opening new opportunities and market segments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – active listening, ability to articulate customer’s environment and needs to all Raytheon management levels
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.) and using the internet and internet resources
  • Knowledge of current DoD and MDA acquisition process and PPBE
  • Current passport and ability to travel domestically and internationally

  • This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
