University Programs: Software Engineering Intern - (2020 College Sophomore, Junior, Senior Level)

Bring your talents to the Raytheon IIS Engineering Team for Summer 2020!

Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services provides a full range of training, space, logistics and engineering solutions, cyber security products and services for government and civilian customers.

Raytheon IIS is seeking a Software Engineering Intern. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, enthusiastic and able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Working in a team environment to design, code, test, document and deliver new/modified functionality
  • Coordinating with developers, testers, configuration management and system engineering to ensure successful integration with other software components.

Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in the Java or C/C++ computer programming language on a Unix/Linux platform
  • Knowledge of Object Oriented design
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment to produce deliverable products
  • Familiar with the software development lifecycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Service-based application development
  • Experience with databases (MySQL, Oracle, Sybase)
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Perl
  • Experience with eXtensible Markup Language (XML)
  • Experience with Virtual Machines (VM’s)
  • Familiarity with agile development
  • Familiarity with Design Patterns
  • Familiarity with Integrated Development Environments (IDE’s)
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git, Subversion, Team Foundation Server (TFS)

Required Education (including Major):
  • Must have obtained Sophomore, Junior or Senior status as of Summer 2020
  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.

This position can be Salary Grade ST02, Salary Grade ST03, or Salary Grade ST04 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.


ST02 (TechStudent-Sophomore) – must have completed 30 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Sophomore status as of Summer 2020.

ST03 (TechStudent–Junior) – must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Junior status as of Summer 2020.

ST04 (TechStudent-Senior) – must have completed 90 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Senior status as of Summer 2020.

ST05 (Grad Student) – must be enrolled in a Masters Degree Program.





This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
