Job Description

Raytheon Pasadena is looking for a Science Data Software Engineer to assist in integrating science algorithm software into a science data system. This work will require engaging with other science community members for understanding needs and determining what science data products to generate.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • The streamline and automate existing procedures with a focus on near real-time execution and workflow
  • Support setting up operational V&V and QC control at Level-2 and Level-3; streamline and automate existing procedures with a focus on near real-time execution and workflow
  • Work with a team to develop and implement reliable error / uncertainty estimates, in particular for Level-3 products (support existing uncertainty quantification efforts).

Required Skills:
  • Knowledge and experience with C++, Python, R
  • Experience with one or more of the following: Matlab, Java, JavaScript, Perl, shell scripting
  • Knowledge and experience with shell Scripting
  • Experience with scientific algorithm design and development
  • Strong Math/Science background
  • Collaborative, energetic, proactive, flexible team player


Desired Skills:
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Track record of collaboration with scientists, researchers, or other non-computer-science stakeholders
  • Passion for science, space
  • Research experience
  • Past JPL experience is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills


Location:
The work will need to be completed in Pasadena CA

Education and Years of Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM and a minimum of 4 years of experience.

This position requires a U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
