Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Agile Project Manager to join our Office of the CIO - IT Program Management Excellence team. This position will work as part of a SAFe Team or Agile Release Train to prioritize, plan and, evaluate the work of the team against business value and objectives. The successful candidate will ensure results contribute positive business value and meet agreed upon acceptance criteria and quality objectives. The successful candidate will have experience in both agile continuous delivery project delivery methods and waterfall in support of our Lean Agile Transformation.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Serve in a lead role on a SAFe Team reinforcing vision and priority on behalf of Product Management and the Business Owner
  • Apply a balance of traditional project management practices with an agile approach to meet the objectives of complex enterprise initiatives.
  • Use skills and experience to tailor an agile approach with fit-for-purpose planning technique that ensure successful project execution
  • Define and manage schedule, cost and scope using backlog refinement and agile scheduling techniques such as SCRUM and PI Planning
  • Act as an Agile Coach by removing roadblocks and helping the team meet commitments.
  • Ensure objectives are met through effective stakeholder engagement, business value alignment, dependency management, and project governance
  • Partner with other roles on the Agile Release Train in support of Program Increment Planning sessions with a focus on vision, business value, objective definition, and risk management
  • Chair/attend regular, Agile Ceremonies meetings to review progress with stakeholders, including senior IT and business leaders
  • Define and manage readiness elements that achieve business and financial objectives
  • Ensure Agile team results are of the highest caliber meeting technical scope, behavioral objectives, and lean business case targets

Position reports to the Strategic Initiatives PMO and can be located in either Billerica MA, Richardson TX or Tucson AZ.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
  • 8+ years in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering discipline
  • 4+ years of Agile project management experience, preference given to SAFe experience and certification
  • Demonstrated experience in agile project management technique including Sprint Planning and PI Planning
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed organization using solid influencing skills
  • Sound business results orientation; ability to make decisions with limited information
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills applying innovation and creativity

Desired Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- Experience on other Agile Teams with a background in using formal project management methodologies (i.e. SCRUM, Kanban, IPDS)
- Experience with Agile and DevOps tools (Atlassian Suite, Team Foundation Server, TaskTop, Trello, LeanKit)
- Experience in Change Management, Implementation Management, Readiness Management, End User Experience
- Experience leading large, complex enterprise system projects is highly desired
-Master’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, Business or Finance or related field

Required Education (including degree):
-Bachelor’s Degree in IT (Information Technology), Computer Science, Business or Finance or relevant experience
Other Requirements:
Travel requirement varies, based on project assignments.
