Job Description

Raytheon UK has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Agile Scrum Lead to provide technical acumen, Agile coaching and delivery capability to our Cyber business.

The role will operate within the Engineering function as part of Raytheon\u2019s Cyber & Intelligence business. The role consists of facilitating agile delivery by building high performing teams, supporting adoption and improvement to Agile ways of working across a range of projects and customer domains, and supporting the technical planning and development in support of Agile delivery.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, capable and collaborative individual to play an active role creating clear real-world value to our customers, working at the forefront of Raytheon\u2019s significant Cyber delivery and investment in the UK.

Summary of Role:
Main Duties:

Provide a Scrum Master role for one or more projects delivered by Raytheon under an applications framework.\u3000 Specifically the role will call on the individual to:\u3000

Assess, plan, manage technical aspects of delivery projects.

Articulate the value of commitments to delivery made by development teams, notably through:

Incremental delivery and the value of metrics

Backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition

Familiarity with common Agile practices, service-oriented environments, and better development practices

Guide development teams and project organisations as to how to set out and execute Agile/Scrum practices and values to maximum delivery effect.

Guide team members to realise effective self-organisation.

Coach teams to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and appropriate for the programme, plan, team and organisation.

Rigorously identify, manage and proactively mitigate programme, project and delivery risks and issues.

Build and encourage a trusting environment where tangible problems can be raised, discussed and resolved in a positive, effective manner.

Facilitate discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution.

Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information.

Support and educate Product Owners, especially with respect to building and sustaining the poduct backlog.

Provide appropriate leadership and support for development teams, leading by example.

As a trusted member of the engineering team within a dynamic business, the successful role holder is expected to actively engage across the Cyber & Intelligence business to support Raytheon bid opportunity qualification, proposal response process offering advice and guidance on ways of working, planning and estimating.

Mandatory Requirements, Skills & Experience

First level Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I).

High proficiency in Atlassian toolset (JIRA, Confluence)

Demonstrable and successful experience performing the Scrum Master role for at least one year or more for an application software development team diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.

Proven track record creating highly effective development teams, delivering complex systems

Sound understanding of the fundamentals of iterative and timeboxed developments \u2013 including understanding the value of this method in relation / comparison to waterfall processes and methodologies.

Effective communicator across diverse audiences

Positive advocate for productive teams, learning culture and Agile ways of working

Strong knowledge of fundamental software development processes and procedures.

Strong delivery ethos, backed up by evidence.

Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques: User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Agile Games.

DV security cleared or the ability to become DV security cleared.

Desirable Requirements, Skills & Experience

Second level Scrum Master certification (CSP, PSM II).

Experience playing the Scrum Master role for at least two years for a software development team that was diligently applying Scrum principles, practices, and theory.

Experience and qualification in scaled Agile methodologies (e.g. Scaled Agile Framework)

Experience of Lean Startup ways of working

Experience working within the GDS Service Delivery model

Knowledge of wider Agile approaches (XP, Kanban etc.)

Familiarity with cloud (AWS, Azure) based development approaches

Familiarity with DevOps tools and techniques
