Job Description:
The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user, as well as implementing systems lifecycle maintenance and modernization plans. We are currently seeking a Technical Writer / Trainer to join our dynamic and growing engineering team.

Candidate must be able to communicate and work with hardware and software engineering personnel and translate engineering data into Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM), Computer Based Training (CBT), and other Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) deliverable formats.

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
• G04 (College Junior by Fall 2019) - must have completed 60 hours of college
• G05 (College Senior by Fall 2019) - must have completed 90 hours of college
• NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2019) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

Required Skills:

  • Must be proficient in the use of standard MS Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Ability to solve routine, sometimes complex problems, with limited supervisory direction
  • Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2019
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
  • Strong interpersonal & communication skills (verbal & written)
  • Educational background in Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering
  • Ability to read schematics/engineering drawings
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision - a self-motivated, self-starting individual

Required Education (including major): Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2019. Must be working towards a degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Major, or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
