Job Description

Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services (IIS) has an exciting opportunity for an entry level Infrastructure Engineer to join our Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) team developing the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Weather Data Reporting systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. This position is located in Marlborough, MA.

The chosen Infrastructure Engineer will work with Product Leads and other team members on a variety of tasks related to the design and development of systems using Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products. Tasks will include Network Design, Research and Selection of Network, Server/Workstation and other COTS Hardware, Network Configuration Definition, System Prototyping and Integration in the lab, Deployment, and Field Support. There will be opportunities to interface with the end customer and some occasional travel will be required, both domestic and international.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter able to complete tasks given direction and goals, and possess good technical aptitude and people skills. They will enjoy being a team player, working with engineers in other disciplines and understanding the trade-offs between software and hardware implementation. The candidate must possess strong design and debug discipline and must be able to follow established processes. They must also have experience meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets. For the right candidate, this is a growth position providing the opportunity for continued development of skills in Network Engineering and System Design.

The candidate will support the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System operating system transition effort. This position will include investigating issues related to the operating system transition from Solaris to Red Hat Linux. The candidate will work in a team environment to support the design of modified functionally on the existing system.


Security Clearance- This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Note: Candidates with a current TS/SCI security clearance or higher are eligible for a $20,000 sign on bonus if the clearance is confirmed and the candidate is hired by Raytheon.



Required Experience and Skills / Responsibilities:
  • Research Linux operating system capabilities
  • Perform prototyping activities in support of solving customer issues
  • Test and evaluate multiple solutions to operating system problems
  • Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of software packages, integration, and testing features for operating systems
  • Resolve problems with operating system environment and respond to suggestions for improvements and enhancements

Desired Qualifications:
  • Leadership or participation in college campus organizations, athletic teams, or community service groups
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Relevant work or project experience in algorithm design, requirements development, systems development, software/hardware integration and configuration management
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office toolset (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • M.S. Degree
  • MATLAB experience
  • Programming experience in modern computer programming languages (JAVA, C++, C)
  • Engineering project, internship or co-op experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Educational background or interest in the following areas:
    • Large-scale software systems
    • Model based engineering and architecture
    • Network design
    • Graphical user interfaces
    • Cyber security, encryption, information assurance
    • Data filtering and processing techniques (e.g. Kalman, batch, optimal)
    • Operating Systems
    • Test planning or test procedure development
    • System integration and test
  • Ability to pursue information (“self-starter”)
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Authored Technical Papers and / or Technical Presentations
Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Systems, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer Science or Computer Engineering or a related technical field obtained within the past 18 months or by December 2019. A GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired. Please include your GPA and transcript with your resume.
