Job Description:
The Software Engineering Center of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems in Marlborough Massachusetts is seeking a summer intern to work with and learn from our engineers on some very challenging projects.

Software Engineering Intern Responsibilities:
You will take direction from the Senior Software Engineer in charge of systems, software tools, release management and infrastructure. Responsibilities will include support of the software team in the design, development, and testing of complex systems using various development environments and tools. You will help with the software development process and software configuration management. You will design, develop, and extend software tools used by internal engineering teams. Expect to collaborate with a dynamic group of engineers from a variety of disciplines.

  • Implement enhancements for internal tools and services used by the engineering team
  • Extend and improve tools to aide in software testing efforts
  • Create productivity tools/scripts for development teams
  • Incorporate code analysis tools into the automated build process
  • Design and implement automated test tools

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:

  • This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
  • G04 (College Junior by Fall 2019) - must have completed 60 hours of college
  • G05 (College Senior by Fall 2019) - must have completed 90 hours of college
  • NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2019) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Required Skills:

  • Prerequisite coursework or experience with programming languages C, C++, or JAVA
  • Candidate should be proficient with general purpose computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2019
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Desired Skills:

  • Candidate should have appropriate courses and experience (work or school projects) that have prepared them to undertake real work and make a meaningful contribution in a professional software engineering environment
  • Previous SW related co-op / internship experience
  • Exposure to Model Driven Development
  • Good oral and written communications skills
  • Software life cycle, Agile development, and/or configuration management experience

Required Education: Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from a four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2019. Must be working towards a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
