The Systems Design Center within the System Design & Performance Directorate has systems design responsibility for programs in the following product lines: Naval and Area Mission Defense, Air Warfare Systems, Land Combat Systems and Air and Missile Defense Systems.The Systems Design Center is responsible for the overall technical integrity of the systems being developed, and is the point organization for coordinating GNC; Modeling, Simulation and Analysis; and Signal Processing support where required; the organization often takes the lead on Failure Review Boards, Engineering Review Boards, and other cross discipline engagements.The center is currently looking for Systems Engineering Summer Interns to provide systems design support for programs in various stages of the product life cycle.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Key Responsibilities:

ØRequirements development and maturation to include subsystem and component level.

ØSystem architecture development and refinement in order to satisfy the system performance and interface requirements.

ØPerformance of trade studies to identify the best solutions in developing the system, trading cost, schedule, and performance.

ØEstablishment of verification and validation techniques for requirements at all levels of indenture for complex systems, to include application of simulation, testing, analysis, and demonstration.

Required Skills:

ØU.S. Citizenship is required

ØProven strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities

ØBasic Engineering skills and interest in how systems are developed and function

ØMust currently have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret Security Clearance.

Required Education:

Pursuing a Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics from an ABET accredited curriculum with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Note:This position can be a Salary Grade ST03, Salary Grade ST04 or Salary Grade ST05 based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:

ST03 (Junior Technical Intern)- must have completed 60 hours of college
ST04 (Senior Technical Intern)- must have completed 90 hours of college
ST05- (Post-Graduate Technical Intern)- must have an undergraduate degree, and currently seeking a graduate degree (In degree fields listed in Required Education)

ØMatlab and/or C++ experience

ØModeling and Simulation experience

ØAbility to analyze issues and define solutions

ØStrong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills

ØSelf-starter with the ability to independently pursue information and solve problems

ØAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment

ØAbility to problem solve and seek out additional resources

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.
