Job Description

Raytheon’s Business Development Leadership Development Program (BDLDP) members participate in a structured, intensive two-year rotation program gaining essential business development experience, making direct and significant contributions to business creation, and accelerating their development as leaders to prepare for immediate post-BDLDP assignments as Business Development professionals who can successfully lead new business growth for Raytheon Company.

BDLDP rotations are with two of Raytheon’s four major business units, with potential for a second rotation assignment with either the corporate U.S. Business Development or Raytheon International, Inc. organizations. The two twelve-month rotations are deliberately varied and always sponsored at geographically different Raytheon sites to afford BDLDP members the widest exposure to business operations and the greatest opportunities for learning, professional growth, and building networks. Experiences during rotations focus on increasing capabilities in eight key business creation competencies:

  • Developing and executing growth strategies
  • General business acumen and managing new business investments
  • Customer relationship management and development
  • Entrepreneurial thinking
  • Advancing and shaping new business opportunities
  • Capture management and proposal writing
  • Influential communications
  • Team and campaign leadership
BDLDP members also participate in a formal curriculum that includes three, progressive week-long cross-functional LDP professional development sessions, BD-specific capability development workshops, and advanced business and leadership courses. BDLDP participants also earn Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist qualification, complete the Raytheon Corporate Price-to-Win / Competitive Intelligence Development Program, pursue Raytheon Capture Manager Certification, and receive regular mentoring and coaching from BDLDP program staff, colleagues and senior Raytheon leaders.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 4 years post-baccalaureate full-time professional work experience
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and drive for results
  • Passion for business creation and strong customer-orientation
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaboration, and networking skills
  • Ability to adapt to new environments and challenges
  • Geographically mobile with no restrictions for assignment within the Continental United States during the two years participating as a member of BDLDP
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Professional backgrounds in business, engineering, Aerospace & Defense Industry, U.S. Government Federal Agencies, and / or Military
  • Strong research, analytical, critical thinking and practical reasoning skills, to include the ability to form and present cogent arguments, positions and business cases
  • Advanced project management skills, with proven experience successfully executing and managing projects from idea to inception through to completion and evaluation
Required Education:
  • MBA or Master’s degree candidate with graduation date by June 30, 2019. Graduate degree must be obtained between December 1, 2017 and June 30, 2019. Professional backgrounds in Business, International Business, Marketing, Strategy, Finance, Engineering, or related fields.
