Job Description

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Raytheon BBN Technologies is seeking an Associate Software Engineer in our Newport, RI office to develop embedded systems software for our Sensor Systems group. Our dynamic team of engineers and scientists produces leading-edge solutions for a range of government customers in a technically challenging environment that values individual initiative and collaboration. BBN engineers solve real-world problems through the innovative application of state-of-the-art techniques and technologies across a varied range of technical domains. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with an ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, delivering high quality, customer-focused solutions.

Required Skills:
•Software Engineering proficiency in C/C++
•Experience developing software in and for Linux (i.e. CentOS, Red Hat, etc.)
•Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired Skills:
•Software development experience in a Unix/Linux environment
•Proficiency in Java, Python, or Matlab
•0-2 years of development experience across a variety of computing hardware platforms
•0-2 years of experience in real-time/embedded systems software

Required Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer/Software Engineering, or related field

Desired Education:
•Coursework in Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, and/or Signal Processing a plus.
