Job Description

Junior Linux System Administrator

The position is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining and implementing solutions to optimize the infrastructure operations. Analyzes and identifies all or part of a company's existing or new computer (and/or server), peripheral, network, and telecommunications systems requirements, taking into consideration the special technology needs. Designs, implements, codes, tests, documents, and maintains systems integration solutions to total system or subsystems. Establishes functional and technical specifications, solves hardware/software interface problems, defines input/output parameters, and ensures integration of the entire system or subsystem.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.


Required Skills:
  • Knowledge of Linux System Administration REHL 5/6
  • Desktop support with increasing responsibilities administering client/server applications
  • Ability to understand hardware/software troubleshooting
  • Analytical skills for first level support of desktop COTS software and hardware issues.
  • Ability to handle a fast paced, rapidly changing development environment
  • Potential for hours on call support and ability to work overtime as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds in support of hardware installations.Knowledge of Linux System Administration REHL 5/6

Desired Skills:
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and must be a self-starter with initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with a diverse user community in quick-response situations.
  • Ensure successful planning, deployment, installation, and upgrades of products within required timelines and resource allocations over multiple geographic sites
  • Experience with desktop workstation collaboration products and protocols
  • Ability to learn and support Rational Clearcase in an enterprise environment
  • Demonstrated ability to research and create detailed computing system documentation andOperational guides/procedures.


Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar technical related field obtained in the last 18 months or by Spring 2018. Desired GPA of 3.0 in a 4.0 scale. Please include your transcript with your resume.
