Job Description

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

You will be a member of a highly motivated team in the design support, development, and production of ground-based and airborne equipment programs located in Forest, MS. Responsibilities include process documentation, defect and variability reduction, SPC development and implementation, cycle time reduction activities, new equipment implementation and new product development. The candidate must have good oral and written communication and be able to provide technical leadership in a teaming environment. Process troubleshooting must use methodical approach based on data. Work with Front Line Leaders and process operators to maximize process yields. Attend daily process focus team meetings to reduce defects and address process issues. Qualifies new processes to improve product quality, reduce cost and cycle times. Will assist in the development of training packages and train operators as required. Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques. Provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05, or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
• G04 (College Junior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 60 hours of college
• G05 (College Senior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 90 hours of college
• NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2018) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

Required Skills:
- Engineering Lab experience
- Experience with electronic equipment
- Ability to analyze individual situations and take appropriate action to ensure that Manufacturing Operations needs are met
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and various Standard Manufacturing Applications along with associated data entry skills
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Must be available for minimum of ten weeks between May and October

- Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2018

Desired Skills:
- Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects is a plus
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)

Required Education (including major):

Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from an accredited four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2018. Must be working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above
