Job Description

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

The candidate will work within the EO Mechanical Design Department. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Conceptual or detail mechanical design of airborne hardware
  • Design or build of tooling and fixtures
  • Designing and running engineering tests including thermal testing, vibration testing, and servo testing
  • Vendor coordination and management optical measurements and metrology
  • Optical alignment
  • Engineering support of a production factory

The chosen candidate will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques. Candidates will be expected to provide recommendations to a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.

Required Skills:

  • Solid Modeling training or coursework using 3D CAD software tools
  • Must be available for a minimum of ten weeks between May and October
  • U.S. Citizenship is a requirement
  • Ability to access to US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)

Required Education: Currently pursuing a MS / MA / PhD degree from an accredited four-year university OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD degree by Fall 2018. Must be working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline.
