Job Description

An internship position for a Mechanical Engineering Technology (preferred) or Mechanical Engineer student of Junior standing that is interested in supporting production throughout the build and test cycle of mechanical and electro-mechanical products,as a member of a multi-disciplined Hardware Engineering Production Support team. Duties will include providing general engineering support for the purchase, production and testing of military and commercial components and systems through updating of engineering drawings, CAD modeling and analysis under the direction of a more senior-level Engineer.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to apply basic mechanical engineering knowledge, such as heat transfer, statics, metallurgy, mechanics of materials, modeling and analysis to mechanical designs
  • Basic MS Office skills
  • Ability to work in a process oriented organization
  • Strong communication skills
This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.

Desired Skills:
  • Prior work, co-op/intern experience
  • Basic skills with CREO (Pro/ENGINEER) or other mechanical design modeling tools
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) IWA ASME Y14.5
  • Ability to read a mechanical blue print in order to perform tolerance stacks and part fit checks

Required Education (Mechanical Engineer):
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineer student of Junior standing

Junior status – must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Junior status as of December 2017.
