University Programs: Software Engineering Intern (Undergraduate)

Bring your talent and skills to Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) Software Engineering Team!

IIS in Aurora, CO is seeking a Software Engineering Intern with the technical and communication skills needed to support ongoing and emerging programs

As a Software Engineering Intern, the candidate will support engineering activities and senior engineers on programs to include activities related to requirement analysis and hierarchical decomposition, development of system architecture, and system delivery. Additional duties may include correction and update of documents, contribute to presentations, support design reviews, support customer requests for information and support the recommendation of appropriate configuration, equipment and software changes to satisfy requests and system integration and test support. Candidates must be professional, a self-starter and possess a positive attitude. It is important that the candidate has a willingness to learn program/organizational processes and procedures and be willing to engage with the staff.

Required Experience:


  • Fundamental engineering skills
  • Proficiency in Windows and/or Linux
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements

Desired Experience:


  • Course work in modern application architectures or methodologies
  • Course work in aerospace engineering
  • Course work in systems engineering
  • Course work on Technical Writing
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Experience working with Interface Control Definition (ICD)
  • Programming skills C++ and/or Java/J2EE
  • Course work in requirements analysis, development, traceability and verification

Required Education:


  • Candidate for a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is desired . (Please upload a copy of your most recent transcript.)

This position can be Salary Grade ST02, Salary Grade ST03, or Salary Grade ST04 based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

·ST02 (TechStudent-Sophomore) – must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Sophomore status as of Summer 2018.

·ST03 (TechStudent–Junior) – must have completed 90 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Junior status as of Summer 2018.

·ST04 (TechStudent-Senior) – must have completed 120 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained Senior status as of Summer 2018.




This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
