As a defense contractor, there are specific programs requiring a certain level of security clearance and special access for assigned staff. The selected candidate will be required to secure these accesses. Not being able to secure the Interim Secret Security Clearance needed for this position may result in an offer of employment being rescinded.

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

U.S . Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support multiple airborne and ground based sensor programs in McKinney, TX. The qualified candidate will provide mechanical engineering support for the EO Mechanical Design Department where the primary focus will be the design support of electro-mechanical/electro-optical systems. They will be responsible for supporting routine technical problems on new product designs as well as improvements to existing products. The candidate will utilize their mechanical engineering knowledge during the support of the basic design, development, and integration of work products to develop solutions to routine technical issues. The candidate will provide mechanical support to the project team, working closely with systems, electrical, optical, and mechanical analysis engineers to provide limited scope solutions to the customer. .

Required Skills:

  • Entry level professional experience in mechanical design and/or production support
  • Knowledge of generating engineering drawings and change notices
  • Expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Must be able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance PRIOR to starting
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required
  • Ability to access to US only data systems

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Knowledge of commercial FEA software, such as Abaqus.
  • Knowledge of commercial CAD software, such as CREO.
  • Programming skills in tools such as C and Matlab
  • Structural test experience
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)

Required Education: Must have a BS and MS from an accredited university with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering by Summer 2018 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date, with coursework in statics, dynamics, and finite element analysis

Desired Education: Master’s level coursework in structural dynamics and finite element analysis
