University Programs: Manufacturing Engineer Intern (Junior or Senior)

Job Description:
Member of a highly motivated team in the design support, development, and production of ground-based and airborne equipment programs located in Forest, MS. Responsibilities include process documentation, defect and variability reduction, cycle time reduction activities, new equipment implementation and new product development. The candidate must have good oral and written communication and be able to provide technical leadership in a teaming environment. Process troubleshooting must use methodical approach based on data. Work with Front Line Leaders and process operators to maximize process yields. Attend daily process focus team meetings to reduce defects and address process issues. Will assist in the development of training packages and train operators as required. Develop manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04 or G05 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

  • G04 (College Junior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 60 hours of college
  • G05 (College Senior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 90 hours of college

Required Skills:

  • Must have technical aptitude as shown by strong grades or hands on experience
  • Must be a college Junior or Senior by Fall 2018
  • Ability to access to US only data systems
  • U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:

  • Experience or exposure with Lean Manufacturing concepts, Pro-E, Design for Manufacturing
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work in a teaming environment as shown in class projects or other activities.
  • Experience with leading or leadership skills
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)

Required Education: Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from an ABET accredited four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior year by Fall 2018. Must be working towards a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Manufacturing, or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
