Job Description

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

The candidate’s specific work will vary but may include the following:

  • Develop and implement materials and processes, process improvements, and equipment selection using established statistical process control techniques, experimental designs, material analysis, and mechanical design analysis.
  • Evaluate materials, equipment and processes (including qualification, acceptance testing, and specification development) and interface with key internal and external customers/suppliers to resolve technical issues
  • Provide manufacturing/process engineering support
  • Review designs for producibility and affordability

The chosen candidate will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques. Candidates will be expected to provide recommendations to a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.


Required Skills:

  • Experience developing and delivering presentations (verbal and/or written) to key stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Materials and Processes or manufacturing engineering

Desired Skills:

  • Have strong technical aptitude as shown by strong grades or hands on lab experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects is a plus.
  • Be a hands on person with ability to work with production equipment
  • Strong six sigma and SPC knowledge and experience
  • Must be able to work easily within a team environment.
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to multi-task.
  • Must demonstrate ability to deliver quality & timely results

Required Education: The applicant must have a BS from an accredited university with a major in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering by Summer 2018 or have graduated 18 months prior to start date.
