Job Description

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

The successful candidate for the Electrical Engineering Internship position will participate in multi-discipline teams supporting primarily military programs through application of EE tools and design processes. Chosen candidates will be a team member working on the design, analysis and support of electronics products.

Positions available include design or support work in the following areas:

  • RF, digital, analog, power and mixed signal circuit card assemblies, sustaining and production electronics support, components engineering, and product development engineering
  • Digital, analog, power and mixed signal circuit card assemblies, FPGA/VHDL programming or ASIC support, sustaining and production electronics support, components engineering, and product development engineering.
  • Transistor level analog and RF design of Integrated Circuits using multiple modern semiconductor technologies

Depending on the individual's area of interest and experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Participating as a team member in detailed circuit design
  • Configurable digital logic development using VHDL
  • Functional analysis
  • Functional verification testing
  • Working with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot and provide root cause and corrective action to design and process issues

The chosen candidate will learn frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, concepts and techniques.
Candidates will be expected to provide recommendations to a variety of technical problems of appropriate scope and complexity, working under general supervision. Successful candidates should expect to be immersed in a fast-paced, team-based, and challenging technical environment where an individual with talent and initiative can stand out and thrive.

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05, or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements for the position.

  • G04 (College Junior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 60 hours of college
  • G05 (College Senior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 90 hours of college
  • NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2018) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

Required Skills:

  • The candidate should have strong technical aptitude as shown by strong grades and/or hands on experience
  • The candidate must be available for a minimum of ten weeks between May and October
  • Must be at least a junior by Fall 2018

Desired Skills:

  • Have strong technical aptitude as shown by strong grades or hands on lab experience
  • Must be able to work easily within a team environment.
  • Must have excellent written & oral skills
  • Must be self-motivated, proactive and able to multi-task.
  • Must demonstrate ability to deliver quality & timely results
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects is a plus.

Required Education:
Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from an accredited four-year university and entering their junior year or pursuing a MS / MA by Fall 2018. Must be working towards a degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
