Job Description:
The candidate will work within one of the eight departments within the Mechanical Subsystems Directorate (MSD). Specific responsibilities will vary by department and experience but tasks performed may include:
Conceptualization Detailed design Thermal and structural analysis Overall mechanical integration of such hardware items as airframes/structures, wings/fins, control surfaces, launching platforms, housings/enclosures, printed wiring board assemblies and various interconnect systems Candidate will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program / functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met. Contacts are primarily with the immediate section manager, team lead, project leaders and other personnel (peers) within the applicable program.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Required Skills:
Experience with the use and application of basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field. Familiarity with 3D modeling CAD tools, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods, and knowledgeable in reading mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings. Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools. U.S. Citizenship is required.Minimum cumulative GPA 3.2
Desired Skills:
Proficiency with Pro/Engineer 3-D modeling CAD tools. Production support experience including the use of basic measurement tools such as calipers and gauges. Excellent interpersonal skills.
Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited curriculum with a cumulative 3.2 GPA or higher.
The Job Title for a Bachelor of Science degree is a Mechanical Engineer I. The Job Title for a Master of Science degree is a Mechanical Engineer II.
