Job Description

Raytheon’s Rotational Engineering Leadership Development Program (RELDP) fosters world-class leaders capable of leading Raytheon's engineering functions across the company. Program participants rotate through Raytheon, gaining exposure to cutting-edge principles, products and trends, working with current leaders, and developing the skills and competencies needed to help shape the company's future.

During this two year program, participants will have two diverse assignments lasting 12-months each, and located in different geographical locations. Participants are engaged in a wide range of learning experiences including mentoring, live and self-paced learning, skills assessments, community service, career planning, networking, and exposure to Raytheon-wide facilities and practices. Individual development plans are linked to Raytheon’s leadership competencies with the goal of developing Raytheon’s engineering leaders of tomorrow.

The first assignment associated with this job requisition is with Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems as a Program Quality Engineer to support Airborne Processor (ABP) programs at the Plano Parkway Texas location. The selected individual will ensure compliance with contractual and internal requirements on the F35 JSF ICP production programs. This includes meeting program cost and schedule objectives. The ABP product line is a series of ruggedized, flightworthy processor modules and chassis.

This role involves hardware built in the McKinney CCA shop, and will thus require some degree of local travel for program statusing and problem resolution. The ideal candidate will be familiar with common CCA manufacturing techniques/processes, as well as ESS testing and the handling of field returns.

The PQE is expected to maintain an excellent relationship with internal manufacturing centers and external customer/government representatives, and is the primary interface with them regarding quality issues, customer concerns/complaints, SCARs, and GCARs. As such, the candidate should have strong RCCA, problem solving, and defect prevention skills.

This is a growth role, working with a more senior PQE. The selected individual must be able to work within a cross-functional, matrixed organization in which there is close interaction and collaboration with other MA, Engineering, and Operations disciplines. Among other things, the PQE will be expected to:
  • Champion MA and PM best practices and process improvement initiatives
  • Define, monitor, analyze, and improve MA metrics in conjunction with CABs
  • Support gate reviews to ensure programs are meeting cost, schedule and technical requirements
  • Conduct independent reviews and assessments against program performance, addressing potential impacts before they occur.
  • Team with HQE to error proof the manufacturing and selloff processes
  • Perform typical PQE activities such as CQR generation, program plan creation and review, contract review and dissemination of quality requirements, control of MRB membership, BOE development, policy setting, and gate review.

  • Leadership in Quality, Engineering, Operations or Business with working knowledge of business strategic planning and proposal, engineering development, material and service acquisition, production, test, product acceptance and post-delivery support.
  • Application of and adherence to Quality Management System AS9100
  • Knowledge of industry and Government (military) Mission Assurance requirements and standards
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desired Skills:
  • Practical knowledge of systems engineering, reliability and system safety requirements and concepts; a Systems Assurance view of the product life cycle
  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA, etc.)
  • Mission Assurance, Manufacturing or Engineering professional with hands-on experience with CCA and higher level manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and apply decision-making skills
  • Strong written/verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate with program team members to develop practical solutions to complex problems

Required Education:
  • Graduating with a Master’s Degree or PhD in engineering or hard science in the current academic year (September 2017 - June 2018)
  • A 3.5 GPA or higher in graduate studies; a 3.2 GPA or higher in undergraduate studies

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date. 108235
