Job Description:

Raytheon Applied Signal Technology has a need for a Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain advanced high-capacity systems that process modern high-speed communications for the US intelligence community.
The successful candidate will work with other experienced engineering staff in the Sunnyvale, CA office to develop and deliver cutting-edge engineering solutions for the protection of our country. The successful candidate also has strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.

Required Skills:

  • Training or experience in software development using C, C++, or Java
  • Experience scripting with modern languages such as Python, Ruby, or Perl
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and object-oriented principles
  • Familiarity with development in Linux/Unix environments
  • Experience and/or coursework in the areas of Networks, Algorithms, or Machine Learning
  • Experience working both in a team environment and individually
  • Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance (U.S. citizenship is required)
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • U.S. Citizenship is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within one year of start date.


Desired Skills:

  • Understanding of software development process including requirements, documentation, source control, and testing
  • Experience with Linux/Unix development, system administration, and shell scripting
  • Experience using version control or source code management tools (e.g., Git, Subversion, Synergy)
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, data communications systems, wireless communications concepts and/or signal processing fundamentals
  • Knowledge of machine learning concepts, such as linear algebra, error analysis, supervised/unsupervised learning, natural language processing
  • Experience with numerical analysis tools and libraries (e.g., MATLAB, NumPy, pandas)
  • Effective, demonstrable communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively on diverse multi-discipline teams


Required Education: Must have a MS / MA with a major in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or other related field by Summer 2018 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.

This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons.
