As a defense contractor, there are specific programs requiring a certain level of security clearance and special access for assigned staff. The selected candidate will be required to secure these accesses. Not being able to secure the Interim Secret Security Clearance needed for this position may result in an offer of employment being rescinded.

The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically.

We are currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic and growing engineering team. You will be responsible for Special Test Equipment (STE) design, development and integration of the STE with the Prime Hardware for Space and Airborne Systems. Test Engineer will work as part of a team to analyze Hardware / Software test requirements / specifications to determine Hardware and Software requirements. Potential areas of focus are: Digital Module test, and/or RF Unit Test Systems.

In addition, will work, with other test engineers, to oversee the manufacturing of the STE and be responsible for its checkout and integration. Candidate will be required to analyze and test digital circuits associated with unit and system level applications. The STE Department welcomes Test Engineers with a strong work ethic, a willingness to get engaged with the hardware to get results, and a positive can-do attitude. Ability to get a secret clearance is required and a condition of employment. Candidates will also have to work across functional disciplines as part of an integrated product development team to design, develop, and integrate the test equipment solutions for Space and Airborne Systems.

Required Skills:

  • Must be able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance PRIOR to starting
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active Interim U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • Understand how hardware, software, and firmware are developed and integrated to provide a test equipment solution
  • The ability to initiate contact, build rapport, and establish collaborative relationships

Desired Skills:

  • Practical laboratory experience from his/her academic training or relevant job experience in a lab setting.
  • Some “hands-on” electrical/electronic experience
  • Working knowledge of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf Test Equipment (Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, DMMs, etc.)
  • Digital Systems, Design & Test Development Background
  • Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-starter able to solve problems independently but also work as part of a team, as required.
  • Willingness to take direction, work to a defined schedule, and driven to get results.
  • Disciplined problem solving approach to all engineering tasks (testing, documentation, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio C++ GUI develop for FPGA checkout support
  • Experience using Mentor Design Architect and/or DX Designer for PWB schematic capture
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)
  • ModelSim digital simulation
  • Prior work experience in a relevant job or from prior internships with a DoD contractor or major supplier

Required Education (including major):
Must have a BS from an accredited university with a major in Electrical Engineering, or other related field by Summer 2018 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.
