Job Description

University Programs Systems Engineering Intern: Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services is seeking a Systems Engineer (SE) intern to join our distinguished Capital Area SE team.

Responsibilities include:
  • Provide basic support in the development, documentation and maintenance/management of operations concepts, requirements (system, element, segment, or subsystem level), external and internal interfaces, and other systems engineering work products/artifacts.
  • Integrate multiple software and hardware subsystems.
  • Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques to solve problems.
  • Contribute to the completion of project/program milestones under general guidance
  • Follow established SE processes and procedures

This position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to US Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.

Required Skills:
  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles, theories and concepts.
  • Exposure to requirements development, derivation and management.
  • Exposure to integration of software and hardware subsystems.
  • Ability to develop solutions to routine technical problems.
  • Ability to work in a multi discipline environment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to articulate status and results.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and sound problem solving skills.
  • Applies communication, analytic and problem-solving skills to identify, communicate and resolve issues.
  • Must work well in a team environment as well as independently.

Desired Skills:
  • Exposure to the software development life cycle
  • Exposure to information security engineering concepts and practices
  • Ability to research and distill data into meaningful information
  • Existing security clearance

Required Education:
  • Candidate for BS/BA in Engineering (Aerospace, Systems, Computer Science, Physics, Math) who is currently in sophomore or junior level class standing
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. (Please include your GPA on your resume and upload a copy of your transcript)

This position can be Salary Grade ST02, Salary Grade ST03, or Salary Grade ST04 based on the candidates qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
  • ST02 (TechStudent-Sophomore) must have completed 60 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained sophomore status as of summer 2018.
  • ST03 (TechStudentJunior) must have completed 90 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained junior status as of summer 2018.
  • ST04 (TechStudent-Senior) must have completed 120 hours of college credits towards degree and obtained senior status as of summer 2018.
