Job Description

The Software Engineering Center of Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Business in St Petersburg, FL is seeking an intern to work with and learn from our engineers on some very challenging projects. Projects encompass a wide range of technologies, services and products focusing on cyberspace, battle management and large-scale MSI solutions, including sensor integration, network infrastructure, and modeling and simulation. This work could include any combination of design, development for embedded systems or user interfaces, integration, or testing of complex systems. The work is accomplished in a team setting using various development environments and tools.

This is an invaluable opportunity to grow your knowledge of the technologies that we use such as C++, python, Linux, Web Services, and UML to meet customer needs. Advance your educational experience and career by honing your skills and working on Agile Scrum teams with experienced engineers from many engineering disciplines. Get hands-on experience with our products by participating in the full lifecycle of product development from architecture and requirements to design, implementation, and integration. Work in an engineering organization recognized by the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) as having achieved CMMI Maturity Level 5, which is the highest software engineering process maturity level that the SEI recognizes. You will have a meaningful assignment that will complement your education, past work experience and potentially lead to a long-term career at Raytheon.

Required Skills:
  • Prerequisite coursework or experience with programming languages C, C++, or Java
  • Candidate should have appropriate courses and experience (work or school projects) that have prepared them to undertake real work and make a meaningful contribution in a professional software engineering environment
  • Candidate should be proficient with general purpose computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good oral and writing skills
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • GPA of 3.0 or better

Desired Skills:
  • Previous SW related co-op / internship experience
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute in a teaming environment
  • Students are encouraged to attach a list of completed coursework/transcript with their application
Required Education (including Major):

Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited degree program working toward a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and maintain a 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

This position can be for a Sophomore, Junior or Senior Internship based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
