Job Description

Raytheon Company has an immediate need for a Lead System Administrator in the McLean, VA area. The on-site System Administrator shall support the day-to-day operations of the Sponsor’s laboratory computer systems. This support shall include the installation, configuration, maintenance, failure analysis and recovery, performance monitoring, data storage management, and security management of laboratory computer systems.
The Lead System Administrator shall have demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) configuration and administration, to include Domain Name Service (DNS) and Group Policy (GP) object configuration and management. Experience using Windows PowerShell to automate system administration processes is a plus.
System Administrators shall have functional knowledge of distributed and clustered computing environments, cloud computing and virtualization environments. Specific duties and responsibilities of the Lead System Administrator may include, but not be limited to:
  • Managing System Administrators to assure complete coverage during contract hours of operation
  • Cross-training System Administrators to assure overlap and redundancy of skill sets
  • Making and enforcing a backup strategy
  • Making and enforcing an archive strategy
  • Authoring standard operating procedures and system administration documentation
  • Compiling weekly activity reports for the team
  • Capturing, analyzing and reporting statistics and performance metrics; identifying areas for improvement and efficiencies
  • Daily monitoring of the Service Desk work queue, triaging Change Requests (CRs), and assigning tickets to system administrator personnel
  • Enforcing INFOSEC policies and procedures in accordance with ICD 503 standards
  • Performing security and compliance audits and protecting against system intrusion
  • Performing system analysis and performance tuning
  • Evaluating and recommending new information technologies benefiting the laboratory
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for Information Technology (IT) requirements and action items; both internal and external
  • Working effectively as an Integrated Product Team (IPT) member, collaborating with program System and Network Engineers, as well as mission partners
  • Performing the duties and responsibilities of junior/intermediate level System Administrator, as needed
Minimum Mandatory Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience
  • Ten (10) years or more of total intelligence community relevant work experience
  • Ten (10) years or more direct experience as a hands-on system administrator beyond the helpdesk environment
  • Years of experience can be substituted for a degree
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory (AD) configuration and administration
  • Demonstrated knowledge of configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Domain Name Service (DNS)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of configuring, maintaining and troubleshooting Group Policy (GP) objects and security settings
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and deploying network addressable storage and file sharing technologies
  • Must be a US Citizen with a current TS/SCI clearance with a poly from day one of employment
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of experience with cloud computing technologies and implementation
  • Two (2) years of experience with virtualization technologies and implementation
  • Demonstrated experience with NetApp storage architectures
  • In-depth knowledge of ICD 503 security standards and application in domain environments
  • Experience with Accreditation and Approval process
  • Demonstrated experience with Puppet or Spacewalk
