Job Description

This is an entry level Systems Engineering position working for Self-Protect Systems (SPS) in Goleta, CA. This is a great opportunity for a recent college graduate to begin learning defense contractor work through systems engineering.

The successful candidate will perform systems engineering tasks associated with the reliability, maintainability, supportability, and safety (RMSS) of military systems. Position will require using engineering knowledge to learn the theory behind how electronic warfare systems work and using this knowledge to influence system design and development. The successful candidate will perform systems engineering duties including assisting with analyzing engineering drawings, developing reliability predictions, influencing product maintainability design decisions, and helping to ensure system design meets operational requirements. Position will also require using engineering knowledge to develop systems engineering plans and reports. The individual will be required to interface with electrical & mechanical design engineers and integration & test engineers while developing engineering analyses and white papers.

Position may require occasional CONUS travel. While developing engineering data, the selected candidate will be required to use engineering knowledge to help develop solutions to a variety of operation and maintenance problems while referring to policies and practices for guidance. Work will be reviewed for accuracy by the individuals integrated product team lead. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

Required Skills:
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Ability to read and/or interpret engineering drawings

Knowledge of Electrical and Mechanical Systems

Understanding of Software Coding

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Deliver and present work artifacts to IPT Lead and Program Office representatives

U.S. Citizenship is required

Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

Desired Skills:
Excellent communications, organizational, and customer interface skills

Experience giving presentations

Mechanical skills

Required Education:
Must have a BS / BA from an ABET accredited university with a major in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other related technical field by Fall 2017 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date.??
