Job Description:

The Software Engineering Center of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems in North Texas is seeking a summer intern to work with and learn from our engineers on some very challenging projects.

Software Engineering Intern Responsibilities
You will take direction from the Senior Software Engineer in charge of systems, software tools, release management and infrastructure. Responsibilities will include support of the software team in the design, development, and testing of complex systems using various development environments and tools. You will help with the software release process and software configuration management. You will design, develop, and extend software tools used by internal engineering teams. Expect to collaborate with the some of the best engineers in the aerospace industry working on real-time embedded, vision, and behavioral systems.

• Implement enhancements for internal tools and services used by the engineering team
• Extend and improve tools to aide in software testing efforts
• Create productivity tools/scripts for development teams
• Incorporate code analysis tools into the automated build process
• Design and implement automated test tools

This will be an experience that will complement your education, past work experience and potentially lead to a long-term career at Raytheon.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
• G04 (College Junior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 60 hours of college
• G05 (College Senior by Fall 2018) - must have completed 90 hours of college
• NUG (Post- Graduate-Masters-PhD by Fall 2018) - must have an undergraduate degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a graduate degree program

Required Skills:
• Prerequisite coursework or experience with programming languages C, C++, or JAVA
• Candidate should be proficient with general purpose computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2018
• Must be able to obtain an interim Secret security clearance PRIOR to starting
• U.S. Citizenship is required

Desired Skills:
• Candidate should have appropriate courses and experience (work or school projects) that have prepared them to undertake real work and make a meaningful contribution in a professional software engineering environment
• Previous SW related co-op / internship experience
• Good oral and written communications skills
• Software life cycle, Agile development, and configuration management
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)

Required Education (including major): Currently pursuing a BS / BA degree from an accredited four-year university and entering as a college Junior or Senior OR pursuing a MS / MA / PhD by Fall 2018. Must be working towards a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, or other related field. Must be appropriate grade level listed above.
