Job Description

Raytheon’s Rotational Engineering Leadership Development Program (RELDP) fosters world-class leaders capable of leading Raytheon's engineering functions across the company. Program participants rotate through Raytheon, gaining exposure to cutting-edge principles, products and trends, working with current leaders, and developing the skills and competencies needed to help shape the company's future.

During this two year program, participants will have diverse assignments lasting 12 months each, and located in different geographical locations. Participants are engaged in a wide range of learning experiences including mentoring, live and self-paced learning, skills assessments, community service, career planning, networking, and exposure to Raytheon-wide facilities and practices. Individual development plans are linked to Raytheon’s leadership competencies with the goal of developing Raytheon’s engineering leaders of tomorrow.

The first assignment associated with this job requisition is with the Software Engineering Directorate within Raytheon Missile Systems. The Software Engineering Center’s primary products and technologies are embedded real time software development and missile application software development. In this assignment, the selected candidate will support a missile development program as an Embedded Software Engineer. This will include the opportunity to design, code, test, and integrate software to satisfy software development requirements. The selected candidate will work in a team environment that uses Agile software development methods with the Scrum Framework. Problem solving in this team environment includes clearly articulating the problem, offering solutions, and software design, integration and test of these solutions. This position will also include performing software and systems requirements analysis and modifications.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

  • Knowledge of modern software languages – C, C++, Java, Unix and UNIX derivatives, MatLab and other analysis tools
  • College coursework should include C/C++ or Java
  • 1 year of calculus, physics and computer science studies that include assembly level programming
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.Interested job seekers must apply online at to determine if they meet qualifications for specific positions and other employment requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with scripting languages (Perl, Python, Bash, etc) is a plus
  • Internships or cooperative work assignments in an applicable embedded software development environment or DoD environment is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Math classes beyond Calculus such as Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, and Engineering Mathematics
  • Computer Science classes such as Operating Systems and Compiler Design
  • Electrical Engineering classes related to embedded systems design
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills
  • Holding a current Secret clearance is a plus

Required Education:

  • Graduating with a Master’s Degree or PhD in engineering or hard science in the current academic year (September 2017 - June 2018)
  • A 3.5 GPA or higher in graduate studies; a 3.2 GPA or higher in undergraduate studies
