Job Description

Raytheon Missile Systems is the world’s largest missile producer.RMS is responsible for the design, test, manufacture, and support of weapon systems equipping the US warfighter and our international allies to meet a large variety of demanding mission requirements. Every missile system produced by Raytheon contains advanced electrical subsystems.These enable target detection, target tracking, guidance, navigation, signal processing, and communication in extreme battle-field environments. The Electrical Subsystems Directorate (ESD) is responsible for all aspects of these subsystems’ design, test, and production.

Job Description:

The Subsystem Design and Architecture Department, a part of ESD, is currently seeking recent college graduates with the skills and passion to engineer complex systems, subsystems, and components.A depth of interest and understanding in one or more of the following technologies will make the candidate a possible fit in our department: optics, infrared systems, RF electronics, radar, digital processing systems, grounding and shielding. Work environment is primarily in an office, but may include labs, field work, or a combination. Assignments may include analysis of hardware designs, subsystems, and components; architecting new electronic systems; developing and documenting subsystem requirements and test plans; peer reviews of designs as a subject matter expert; presentations to peers, Raytheon management, and government customers; and root-cause failure investigations.

Raytheon Missile Systems has a strong culture of mentoring; it is expected that employees will actively participate in sessions with a mentor. Assignments may require supporting multiple programs and integration efforts, working within multi-disciplined teams, ensuring proper engineering disciplines are applied to all designs, and be able to provide the best possible solution with cost and schedule constraints. . This position may require some travel, including foreign travel.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.


Required Skills:

·A broad understanding of hardware, firmware, software, components, and subsystems.

·U.S. Citizenship is required

·A desire to understand how parts of an electronic subsystem interact.

·Be able to communicate clearly and succinctly, both written and oral.

·Be able to convey advanced and complex technical concepts to scientists or managers, including government customers.

·Be able to manage multiple tasks.

·Be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

·Have an engineer’s curiosity, and a desire to learn and grow.



Desired Skills:

· Intern experience working with missiles or similar systems.

· Experience in detailed hardware design.

· Experience in integration and test of CCAs and firmware, and into higher-level assemblies.

· A current Top-Secret DoD security clearance.

Required Education (including Major):

Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Optics, Systems or Engineering Physics from an ABET accredited curriculum with a 3.0 GPA or higher. The Job Title for a Bachelor of Science degree is an Electrical Engineer I. The Job Title for a Master of Science degree is an Electrical Engineer II.
