Digital Media Specialist

Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is a progressive member owned utility with a service area that spreads from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the tidal waters of the Chesapeake Bay. REC serves over 165,000 connections in portions of 22 Virginia counties. REC has a job opening for the position of Digital Media Specialist. Four-year college degree or equivalent experience with emphasis in communications, journalism, mass communications or related field. Must have at least (8) years of business or related experience. Experience should include video production, content development for online communications for external and internal audiences. Experience maintaining an Internet or Intranet site. Experience identifying and developing key messages, shaping and executing communications strategies and plans, as well as capturing business requirements for online projects. Project management experience is helpful as well as photography and illustration experience. Must have a thorough working knowledge of generally accepted business, advertising, and communications practices associated with communicating clearly with the general public. Must possess understanding of professional public relations and communications tactics. Must have a thorough, working knowledge of all facets of online communications and website administration, including: video production, writing for online communication channels, content generation and management, digital/online analytics, and usability testing. Must be familiar with content management systems and the delivery of targeted content. Must be familiar with various social media channels such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and similar sites. A thorough knowledge of rural electrification and Cooperative principles is desired. Must possess basic computer skills, to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to: Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as required by job responsibilities. Must be able to apply listening and writing skills to communicate and interact effectively with the general public, Cooperative members and employees. Must be able to work under deadlines and be able to juggle multiple projects. Must be able to evaluate communications needs and develop and implement an accompanying strategy. Must be able to serve as liaison between IT and the business to ensure that online-related projects meet business goals and to interpret technical information for business stakeholders. Must have strong analytical skills to interpret online usage data and devise strategies for strengthening user engagement. Must have the ability to use Adobe Creative Suite to create content for use across digital communication channels. Perform other duties as assigned. Most of the work will be performed at the Fredericksburg office. Video production will require travel throughout REC's 22-county territory.

May require irregular working hours, especially if there is an emergency or crisis. Some out of town and out of state travel is required. Schedule is subject to change without notice.
