Quincy Housing Authority

The QUINCY HOUSING AUTHORITY was established in 1939. The first developments were Indian Hills, located at 5th & Harrison. The name was chosen because of the location near Indian Mounds Park. At the same time another project was being built at 8th & Elm. The Project was named after Captain Frederick Ball, a young black soldier who fought in the Spanish American War. Ground was broken in September of 1941 and the first families moved in on November 1, 1942. Indian Hills consists of 200 units and Frederick Ball is 49 units. These are 1, 2, 3, and 4 bedroom apartments for families and elderly. ...
