Job Description

Job Summary

The Assistant Complex Director position is held by a current graduate student and reports to the Complex Director. The ACD is a staff member of the Department of Housing and Residential Education. The ACD is available to the Resident Assistants and residents of the University Village community. The serve as the advisor to the University Village Council and will assist the Complex Director in maintaining the Residential Education portion of the department. The following responsibilities comprise the significant duties assigned to the ACD. Other duties may be assigned.

Behavior & Crisis Intervention

Address behavioral and student concerns

Respond to policy violations

Work with and refers students to campus offices

Communicate confidential information appropriately

Serve in an on-call duty rotation;

Respond to crises

Residence Life

Creates and sustains a positive living environment

Work with campus offices on programming

Work with RAs on programming

Encourage collaboration between student staff and resident student organizations

Communicate campus and community information to University Village residents

Oversee program purchasing

Student Leadership

Advise housing student organization(s)

Provide training and leadership development opportunities to resident student leaders

Work with student organization's executive board to oversee and further develop organization structure

Attend state, regional, and national conferences and business meetings with student leaders

Assist with recruitment and training of student staff

Maintains and updates training manuals, as needed

Complete all student employment paperwork in a timely and accurate manner

Plans staff development opportunities for student staff

Plans recognition for student staff

Understands PNW policies and procedures, with regards to undergraduate student employment

Administrative

Support the mission of PNW and housing

Understand PNW policies and procedures

Hold staff accountable

Provide prompt responses to inquiries

Meet requested deadlines

Communicate information to staff

Assist in training of the student staff

Serve on committees and task forces as requested

Minimum Qualifications

Current graduate student who must be enrolled in at least three (3) academic credit hours of graduate-level course and/or research work at Purdue University Northwest or other higher education institution in the area.

Maintain at least a 2.3 cumulative grade point average and a 2.3 semester grade point average. Grades will be checked at the end of each semester and summer session.

Must maintain a good conduct standing with Purdue University Northwest, as discerned by the Student Code of Conduct and the Department of Housing and Residential Education
