Job Description

The Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Purdue University Northwest in Hammond and Westville, Indiana, invites applications for a full-time visiting Assistant Professor position starting on August 13, 2018.

The College of Engineering and Sciences offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology, Medical Technology, Health Studies, Chemistry, Physics, Physical Science, Mathematics, Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Master of Science degrees are offered in Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Engineering Interdisciplinary. PNW Engineering is nationally ranked #26 by US News and World Report in the category of Best Engineering Programs, among engineering schools whose highest degree is a bachelor's or master's degree. The University's engineering programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

Purdue University Northwest is an academically comprehensive regional university and part of the internationally respected Purdue University system. The campuses are located in the northwest Indiana cities of Hammond, less than 25 miles southeast of downtown Chicago, and Westville, near the shores of Lake Michigan. Essential Duties:

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in mechanical engineering (including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer). The primary focus for this position is the area of thermo-fluids. We seek a colleague who is a talented educator able to cover a wide array of courses in the mechanical engineering major.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach all levels of mechanical engineering (both lecture and lab-based courses) and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Some courses may be taught in the evenings and there are opportunities to teach courses in a distance learning format.
