Job Description

Provide programmatic and office management support for the office of International Programs, assisting with projects and programs for faculty, staff, and students. This position will participate in all aspects of planning and delivering programs, workshops, conferences, and events in international programs. These will include exchange programs, student study abroad programs, hosting international faculty guests, coordinating the International Veterinary Medicine Certificate Program, coordinating the Spanish for veterinary medicine program, assisting the Purdue International Veterinary Student Association, and assisting with management of the John Van Vleet International House. This position will be required to work with faculty, staff, and students, and interface and coordinate with other offices in veterinary administration such as the business office, veterinary teaching hospital, student services, advancement, diversity initiatives, the other engagement offices, and Purdue's central offices for international programs.

A cover letter describing experience and/or interest in international programs is required.

Required:

* High School Diploma / GED
* Four years of administrative assistant and/or secretarial experience
* Experience working with international students and faculty or with management of student study abroad programs
* Strong oral and written communication skills
* Excellent customer service skills and professionalism in dealing with external business partners, students, faculty and staff
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build working relationships among a diverse workforce
* Strong organizational and time management skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail
* Motivated individual with ability to efficiently multi task, work under pressure, handle frequent interruptions and meet deadlines
* Ability to identify and determine problems, analyze information and implement solutions
* Capable of taking initiative, assuming responsibility and handling confidential information with discretion
* Ability to work independently and contribute to a team environment
* Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology
* Proficient in: Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Word

Preferred:

* Bachelor's degree; college coursework in international studies, education, community outreach, science, or social services
* Professional experience in an academic setting
* Ability to read/write/speak Spanish and English.
* Working knowledge of social media platforms, web-conferencing tools and web content management

Additional Information:

* Must submit a cover letter (approximately 250 words) describing experience and interest in international programs
* This position requires occasional overtime on evenings and weekends
* Purdue will not sponsor an employment related visa for this position
