Overall Job Scope:

This is a "Project" position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

This position is in the T&D organization and will act as a key contributor to the successful execution of Utility Electric Transmission and Distribution capital projects. 

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall project management responsibility for all assigned projects within PSEGLI's T&D Major Capital Project portfolio including Interconnection and other related projects. Responsible to assure all aspects of assigned projects are managed, integrated and performed in a timely and cost effective manner to achieve successful completion in support of budget and operational requirements.
  • Under general supervision of Senior Project Manager, oversees multiple projects. Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedule to ensure timely completion of project.
  • Accountable and responsible for project leadership & management of transmission, substation, and distribution projects consisting of cross-functional teams involving multiple engineering disciplines and multiple construction areas including contract resources.
  • Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget, and safety performance of multiple construction projects & programs.
  • Leads project teams through business case / capital approval process, development and execution of project plans and project closeout.
  • Work with project controls unit in data gathering, management, and analytical processes; for forecasting, understanding and influencing time and cost outcomes, and identifying schedules and cost variances for all T&D capital programs & projects through the communication of information in formats that assist effective management decisions.

 

Required Education, Competencies and Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management 
  • 6-8 years’ experience in Engineering, Construction, Project Management, T&D Operations or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with successful delivery of complex projects and possess team leadership skills.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong PC and business applications knowledge to facilitate full leveraging of technology solutions in the construction work environment.
  • Proficient in project scheduling tools.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
