This role is responsible for the overall Infrastructure operations of 24/7 highly complex, multi-platform computer operations at an Enterprise level. Work includes responsibility for organizing, supervising and reviewing the work of production managers and managing 3rd party Managed Services vendor for various technical disciplines. Works closely with the COG to ensure excellent financial management – this includes responsibility for managing a multi-million dollar budget. Provide input to overall IT strategic and operational plans. This includes availability management of all IT infrastructure components relevant to their respective areas, overseeing problem management, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective action plans, providing vendor management and oversight, as well as administering and reporting on vendor and client SLAs. This role is also responsible for Performance Management of direct reports, including annual appraisals. Work is performed with considerable latitude under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems.

Strong exposure and experience in managing managed services vendor and measure their outcomes and provide guidance to enhance customer experience, availability of systems and continuous improvement on ongoing basis.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the vendor who has to work with infrastructure and application project teams to ensure solutions are aligned with acceptable support requirements, and that the transition and delivery of new or upgraded systems are seamlessly moved to production support teams and suppliers.
  • Ensure Monitoring of production system performance, availability and support costs, and report status related to plan to ensure client expectations are met by the vendor.
  • Ensure Quality Control and Assurance procedures are consistent with Infrastructure specifications, client requirements and corporate policies.
  • Manage the Disaster Recovery (DR) Process for all scorecard and LOS applications including updating of the DR plan, as well as periodic testing and activation in the event of an emergency.
  • Manage various Infra production managers and vendors to perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis on production systems failures, formulate corrective action plans, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and track their effectiveness.
  • Develop and manage the preventive maintenance programs for Infrastructure systems including patching, upgrades, tuning and performance management.
  • Manage weekly problem management meetings with clients and support teams to discuss all open issues and tickets and to prioritize remediation efforts with planned maintenance and other activities.
  • Manage and communicate problem resolution and system restoration status during unplanned outage events to LOB and IT Senior Management.
  • After hours callout is required in the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • Coordinate and comply with PSEG change management process.
  • Support all internal and external audit initiatives and remediate identified deficiencies, if any.
  • Comply with all NERC CIP and regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Participate and manage daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly in vendor governance meetings.
  • Work with vendor and Identify continues improvement areas and come up with new initiatives to enhance infrastructure support.
  • Manage, maintain and comply with license requirements related to SaaS, PaaS, IaaS and in house hosted infrastructure. 
  • Comply with cyber security- related and other vulnerabilities as identified by the IT security team.

    Required Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and 8 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 4 years in an IT Manager role of support infrastructure.  Without a Bachelor’s degree, at least 12 years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum 8 years in infrastructure support.
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff.
  • Broad understanding of Infrastructure support.
  • Strong understanding of ITSM (ITIL) and overall understanding of Infrastructure components.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management in the day-to-day activities related to supporting critical systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers, clients and vendors.
  • Strong skills in project and problem management.
  • Understanding of general IT standards, policies, best practices, guidelines, processes.
  • Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work effectively with internal clients from various business organizations and lines of business, and IT management and staff.

    Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

  • Broad to in-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence functions, applications, and system & technology alternatives. 
  • Extensive knowledge and Certification in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training.
  • Advanced degree in Information Systems or Masters of Business Administration.
  • Extensive application development and coding experience in one or more technologies.
  • Extensive experience in application and infrastructure design, implementation and support.
  • Experience supporting applications related to Utility power plants monitoring and maintenance.
  • Certifications related to application development and support.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams of technical resources, consultants and vendors.
