Job Description

Providence, a multidiscipline engineering and environmental consulting firm with corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge and offices in Houston, and Houma, seeks an entry-level Accounting Intern for its Baton Rouge, Louisiana office. This part-time position (15-20 hours/week) will report directly to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

Bank statement reconciliations

Assisting with month, quarter, and year-end close activities

Prepare accruals and recurring journal entries for review by Accounting Manager

Participates in the preparation of the annual budget

Assist Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams as needed

Scanning documents

Special projects and other duties as delegated by the Accounting Manager

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, minimum GPA 3.0

Understanding of accrual accounting, GAAP, and internal controls

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills

Detail oriented

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Effective organizational skills including the ability to work independently and consistently achieve deadlines

Must be honest, trustworthy, discreet, and able to maintain strict confidentiality with all financial information
