Job Description

Providence, a multidiscipline engineering and environmental consulting firm with corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge seeks a Business Development Intern for its Baton Rouge, Louisiana office. This position will provide support to company staff with business development activities and metrics in a fast-paced office environment.

Day-to-Day Functions

* Research potential and existing clients to determine the competitive landscape
* Follow up with staff and marketing group on digital/social media campaigns
* Assist in identifying potential business opportunities
* Monitor news and developments relating to or impacting key clients
* Keep client lists and rankings up to date
* Prepare periodic reports on tracking and monitoring of business development opportunities for company
* Prepare general correspondence, memos, charts, tables, graphs, etc. as related to business development activities
* Communicate, collaborate and cooperate with staff, clients, consultants, vendors in all business interactions
* Attends meetings, take notes, and follow-up on outstanding agenda items


* Enrolled in university pursuing BA/BS degree or equivalent
* Interpersonal skills to handle differing personalities
* Dynamic, outgoing personality along with a very positive attitude and desire to provide excellent support
* Ability to interface well with all departments at all levels both internally and externally
* Ability to work with the appropriate sense of urgency and have a drive for results
* Highly self-motivated, persistent, dependable and independent
* Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
* Must have knowledge of a computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, MS Outlook, Trello, One Note, etc.).
