Tax Intern

What will I be doing?

As an Intern here at ProQuest, you will have the opportunity to learn what it really means to work as a Tax Accountant in a Corporate Environment. You will gain first-hand experience in gathering data, researching IRS notifications, data analytics, and threshold analysis. Each week will be a little different from running reports using enterprise-level tax tools, to researching a question about International Tax. Other work will include projects, pulling invoices, and supporting the ProQuest Tax team.

If you're currently enrolled in school full time and are interested in gaining some valuable experience in Tax Accounting, keep reading!!

In this position, you will also...

* Run reports in Vertex, Oracle, and other tax systems.
* Format reports and input data onto existing spreadsheets for tax filings and analysis.
* Draft sales and use tax exemption forms for vendors.
* Verify tax rates to explain customer tax discrepancies
* Perform research federal, state, and local income and franchise tax issues
* Assemble documentation for state notice correspondences
* Analyze monthly spending for sales and use tax accrual
* Assist with creation of job aids and documentation for use tax, global VAT/GST, tax functions
* Assist with account reconciliations and entries

Three Reasons you should apply...

1. Build on your academic experience with real-world corporate tax knowledge. See what an Apportionment REALLY is!

2. The information that you learned in your accounting classes will become real when you apply it to a balance sheet in Oracle for a multi-national corporation

3. You love working in Excel and telling a story with numbers

4. You can use this opportunity to learn and gain access to enterprise-level accounting systems (Oracle, Vertex, and others)

This job may not be a fit if...

1. You don't care for finance and accounting…. It's just not that fun for you!

2. You don't enjoy looking through data and conducting analysis on large data sets

3. A high-volume of transactional data seems like it would be overwhelming

Qualified Candidates must have…

* Applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Accounting or Finance preferred.
* Excel experience preferred.
* Proven analytical skills, with attention to details.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to perform well in a fast paced and reprioritizing environment.

More to love about becoming a PQ employee!

* We offer professional development opportunities with a significant focus on learning
* We hold fun on-site events
* Our employee population is smart and highly collaborative
* We have a relaxed dress code… yes, that means blue jeans (and not just on Fridays!)
* All of our employees have access to ProQuest research products including e-books, genealogy and academic journals

At ProQuest, we work hard and have fun doing it. If you take pride in your work and enjoy learning new things about accounting and tax, please consider joining our talented team!!
