What you'll do

Principal Funds is actively seeking a talented individual to join the mutual fund tax team. The team has responsibility for oversight of all outsourced tax work, establishing tax policies and controls and financial analysis and interpretation of domestic and international mutual fund tax accounting information for 100+ mutual funds.

Here are a few examples of the kinds of things you'll do:

* Research domestic and international tax regulations specific to the mutual funds and their investments.
* Manage foreign tax withholding forms and filings.
* Develop, maintain, and document tax policies and controls.
* Ensure tax compliance regulations are met.
* Manage dividends and distributions.
* Perform vendor oversight and review tax provisions, tax returns and tax reporting.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance (or equivalent).
* 4+ years of relevant experience.
* Must have direct experience in at least one of the following areas: InvestOne accounting and process development/reporting, mutual fund taxation, foreign market openings or foreign taxes on financial instruments.
* CPA Certification and strong process and technology skills are preferred.
* Mutual fund tax accounting, knowledge of tax law & procedures, tax research skills, and/or financial services or public accounting experience is also preferred.
* Must have a strong sense of initiative as well as be highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
* Must have strong problem solving, leadership and analytical skills.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Must have good interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
* Demonstrates the ability to accept and adapt to a changing environment.
* Consistently demonstrates the ability to identify and resolve complex tax accounting issues.
* High attention to detail required.
* Ability to meet established deadlines and work effectively under time constraints with limited supervision.

We are open to considering candidates at the next level based on qualifications.

Location

While we have a preference for those that are able to work in our Des Moines, IA office, we are open to those who wish to work remotely.
