Job Description

Position Summary Benefits Supplemental Questions

The Cyber Security Intern position assists the Network Security Analyst with procedures and technical systems in order to safeguard the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all Service Authority information systems and data while acting on user-facing security issues.

The responsibilities of this position include: maintaining security and privacy policies; assisting with regular infrastructure security assessments; first response remediation through one's own work or through the direction of the Network Security Analyst. Including analyzing intrusion incidents; identifying and resolving actions for long-term remediation. In addition, analyzing weekly Nessus scan reports and identifying resolutions to vulnerabilities. Will receive daily assignments from the Network Security Analyst and follow through on recurring and non-recurring matters. Use independent judgment to take approved actions to identify and address security related issues.

Eligibility:

* Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited institution or a recent college graduate (within the last two years). If enrolled in an undergraduate program, must be a junior or senior.
* Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
* Must exhibit a genuine interest in learning about the SA as well as gaining practical work experience.

Position Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions:

* Assists computer users in solving hardware and software problems associated with the various security systems to assure continuous system functionality.
* Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with internal and external management personnel, information technology staff, and Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP).
* Collaborates with Information Technology Helpdesk personnel to remediate technical and security-related user issues.
* Conduct research to understand and identify root causes and possible solutions to cyber security events and alerts generated by cyber security systems.
* Participates in first response remediation for network intrusion incidents and creation of post-incident assessment.
* Protects the integrity, confidentiality and availability of the Service Authority's information resources, data and systems by acting on security-related user issues, to include software, information protection, information security, and software configuration changes.
* Shall maintain an inventory of all endpoints to ensure the recommended anti-malware agent is installed on them.
* Ability to translate technical terminology into terms understandable to management and employees.

* Knowledge of the methods, procedures, and techniques of computer support to perform the full range of duties within the field; computer software and hardware operations and equipment (peripherals); principles and practices of computer hardware and software de-bugging and other troubleshooting procedures; English usage, spelling and grammar.
* Ability to operate a variety of computer hardware and software including, but not limited to, desktops, laptops, Mobile Data Computers (MDCs), printers, print servers, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office Suite; install computer hardware and software; diagnose technical problems and determine appropriate action; prioritize and organize work and provide excellent customer service; effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; excel both independently and as a team member in a lively, collaborative environment.
* Knowledge of TCP/IP and network analysis.
* Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; communicate with clients in non-technical terms; follow oral and written instructions.
* Completion of at minimum sophomore year in college or higher level education at an accredited college or university, studying computer science, cyber security, or related field.
* Minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

* A+ Certification, ISC (2) Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SCCP)
* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license consistent with Service Authority policy requirements.
