Job Description

This position is responsible for data center infrastructure and support of installed infrastructure. Additional responsibilities include architectural design, installation, configuration and support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transition architect responsible for design and support of data center migration or on-boarding of outsourced networks to client systems
  • Design and Tier4 support of hybrid data center networks and Disaster-Recovery networks.
  • Design and Tier4 support of campus infrastructure.
  • Participate in meetings to understand customer requirements, Due Diligence and Proposal presentation sessions
  • Responsible for translating customer requirements into consistent, compliant, value-added solutions, creating associated cost models and associated proposal documentation, managing due diligence and assisting in contract negotiations, when needed
  • Assess the current IT environment and provide appropriate technical solutions to address business challenges related to data center optimization
  • Architect, Design and Support internal, Customer Network & Application Solutions like Colocation, Co-hosting etc. and their variants
  • Interact with client's customers for collecting required details (Requirement Analysis) and documenting the same in terms of Knowledge Captured.
  • Creating Design Blueprints and Design Documents such as:
    • High Level Design (HLD),
    • Low Level Design (LLD),
    • Migration Procedures,
    • Fallback Procedures etc.
    • Testing the design as required
    • Mentor other less experienced Systems Engineers in the assigned opportunities. Exhibit leadership and be viewed as a leader by senior management, peers, partners, company and customers

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)

  • 5+ years of technical experience in a solution architect profile. Candidate must have played a key role in architecting and implementing complex data center solutions.
  • Demonstrated excellence at articulating & presenting complex technical topics to both executive and technical personnel.
  • Understanding of Infrastructure Consulting (Data center optimization services) - Data center consolidation and migration - Data center management - Private and Public Cloud - Server virtualization - Storage consolidation - Disaster recovery skills.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Data Center and Virtualization Technologies, Solutions and Architectures.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or understanding of Cloud providers (Azure, AWS, Google, etc)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, listening, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member and assume a leadership role for the team.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills.
  • Ability to train and disseminate information within an Area or Operation.
  • Expertise and good knowledge of:
    • Protocols, Technology, Features like BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, EIGRP, RIP, loop avoidance, Multicast PIM - DM, SM, SSM, IGRP v1, v2, v3 etc., Protocol Security, Ethernet, STP, RSTP, MSTP, VTP etc., features/techniques like VPC, VDC, FEX, ISSU, VSS, OTV, LISP, Fabric Path, QFabric Features, Fast Convergence, MPLS VPNs etc.
    • Software - IOS, IOS-XR, CatOS, JunOS, FortiOS
    • Device expertise - Cisco ASR 9K, GSR, ISR etc. or equivalent, Nexus 2K, 5K, 7K, QFabric, Cisco Catalyst 6500-series, other Cisco Catalyst platforms etc. or equivalent
    • Implementation of 1Gb, 10Gb, and 40Gb Ethernet
    • Firewalls/IPS, load balancers, WAN optimization
    • Data Center facilities: power/cooling/cabling
    • Cisco ASA, AnyConnect, TrustSec
    • Load Balancing techniques and scenarios (Netscaler/F5 - GTM, LTM/Brocade/Cisco/Kemp etc.)
    • Data Center Network Architecture (Layered architecture) & Data Center Network Security (Firewalls, IPS/IDS etc.)
    • Familiarity with the following in a DC Network Environment to enable an end-to-end design & inter-working with teams
    • Storage networking protocols: Fibre Channel, iSCSI, NFS/CiFS, storage multi-pathing
    • X86 hardware solutions, Rack and blade server solutions from HP, IBM, Dell
    • VMware: ESXi, vSwitch operations, SRM (site recovery manager), vCloud
    • High availability architectures and clustering solutions (MS SQL, Oracle RAC, Veritas, etc.)
    • Disaster recovery solutions: backup/recovery, mirroring, active/standby, active/active
    • Understanding of business applications: MaSS, CRM, MS Dynamics, SAP, Microsoft, & Oracle suites primarily, RISC, mid-range, Mainframe platforms
    • Virtualization: Hypervisors, server and desktop virtualization
    • Understanding of databases: MS SQL, data warehousing/analytics solutions
    • Understanding of Middleware: WebSphere, Weblogic, JBOSS, etc.
    • Understanding of Infiniband
    • EMC technologies and solutions primarily (VNX, Unity, ExtremelO, Avamar, Data Domain)
    • Competitive offerings from HP, Juniper, Brocade, Riverbed, IBM, Dell, Arista, etc.

Technical Certifications

  • Current certifications in the following: A+, Net+, Security+, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher, Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) or Juniper Networks Certified Internet Professional (JNCIP) or higher with concentration in Routing and Switching preferred.
