Job Description

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the design and management for the networks of managed services and hosting infrastructures and platforms. As a senior engineering member, you would be responsible for guiding and directing the changes to infrastructures and platforms to meet the needs of cloud and client infrastructures. As a senior member of the network engineering team you will require a strong knowledge of the scalability needs for security, bandwidth, latency, and failure-modes of networking technology as it applies to scalable cloud computing, application delivery, and network I/O patterns

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements and supports network serviceability of applications, systems and Internet for cloud computing, and client on premise solutions.
  • Focuses on delivering innovative networking architectures and patterns for scalability, latency, resiliency, and cost effectiveness.
  • Provides input and assistance in the business strategies for high-scalability cloud computing and engineering models for application and data delivery.
  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade and support leading networking technologies across datacenters, and customer locations.
  • Design and configure various security solutions for site-to-site VPNs, SSL VPN, IDS
  • Work with security teams to deliver industry standard security architectures, solutions, and isolation based upon best practices and innovative efforts.
  • Develop monitoring architectures, patterns and configurations for scalable monitoring of customer locations, and across multiple datacenters.
  • Strong fundamentals in Disaster Recovery, Change Management, logging and alerting of multi-tenant environments.
  • May travel to customer sites to provide additional design services, support and troubleshooting or lead implementations.
  • Train and assist operational teams in the supportability of WIFI, ISP methodologies, MPLS, data delivery and the designs around IP connectivity.
  • Provide off-hours support as necessary for implementations, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent in education/experience.
  • Engineering discipline experience utilizing FMEA's, multi-tenant architecture patterns and technical specification documents.
  • Advanced network and datacenter design architectures, approaches, and methodologies.
  • 3+ years in managed services and/or hosting companies utilizing multi-tenancy architectures.
  • Must possess a minimum of 5 years of experience in the following subject areas: MPLS, Point-to-Point, VPN Tunnels, edge, border, and core infrastructures and associated network monitoring protocols including SNMP.
  • Must possess understanding of dynamic routing protocols including BGP, and OSPF.
  • Must be proficient in network service protocols including DNS, NTP, and DHCP
  • Proficient in application level redundancy and balancing of traffic through software and hardware load balancers using opensource and commercial providers.
  • Understanding of how opensource networking solutions are used by commercial providers and by themselves.
  • Understanding of cloud engineering methodologies as it pertains to network connectivity and datacenter architectures
  • Understanding of software-defined networking methodologies and approaches.

Preferred Technical Certifications

  • Industry certifications in various networking venders including Cisco, Fortigate, and Juniper.
  • Preferably CCNP and any number of its domains of knowledge
  • Security certifications, including but not limited to GIAC and CISSP
