SUMMARY

Assists the Director/Manager in day to day supervision and coordination of assigned section personnel as well as supply and equipment resources.  Performs all magnetic resonance imaging studies while under the general supervision of a licensed practitioner, for the purposes of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders at a technical level not requiring constant supervision and within the scope of their license. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs all magnetic resonance imaging studies and administration of contrast media with appropriate application of technical and positioning protocols, radio frequency safety procedures, radiation protection and proper image identifying criteria according to department policy and procedure.
  2. Verifies physician orders for instructions from requesting physician and consults with the radiologists as necessary.  Explains procedure and provides education as appropriate.
  3. Performs equipment warm up, calibration and safety check as needed.  Operates hospital computer system.  Reports to supervisor any equipment malfunctions.  Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines for appropriate quality control.
  4. Responsible for departmental records.  Accurately and promptly documents in departmental records (film, file and computer) patient name, exam date, film/image markers, clinical history, complaints, allergies, etc.  May prepare file for processing to radiologist.  Collects statistics as directed.
  5. Communicates reactions, complications, changes in condition etc. to radiologist, physician, supervisor, peers and nursing unit as necessary.
  6. Administrative functions

Other Responsibilities:

  1. Trains recently hired MRI technologists.
  2. Adheres to downtime procedures.
  3. Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  4. Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Presence Health
  5. Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Presence Health through behavior and attitude.
  6. Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
  7. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Education and/or Experience                                                              

    Graduate of an approved program in Radiologic Technology.

    Minimum of 1+ to 3 years of MRI experience.

     

    Computer Skills                                                          

    Basic knowledge of computer, keyboard, and mouse operations.

     

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

    Registration in Radiography and in MRI by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

    CPR certification
