SUMMARY Manages the Environmental Services, Linen, Transport and Equipment Transport departments.  Ensures that the hospital is maintained in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition and meets Joint Commission and state/local standards. Coordinates operation of assigned department activities and assures that quality, performance and production standards are maintained.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops departmental goals and operational plans for assigned areas of responsibility including: Environmental Services, Linen, Transport and Equipment Transport departments.
  • Develops and manages staffing plans within budget guidelines and ensures adequate service coverage and quality of assigned departments. Assigns and monitors work schedules of subordinates and adjusts schedules and assignments as necessary for vacations, absences.
  • Ensures adequate level of necessary supplies and inventories supplies/stores and dispenses supplies to subordinates and other departments.
  • Develops, implements, reviews, and revises hospital and/or departmental policy and procedures. Communicates policies and procedures to subordinates and ensures/monitors their compliance.
  • Conducts and/or provides training to all department employees (may be skills based or mandatory). 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience                                                              

High School Diploma or GED required. Associates Degree preferred. 

One year of management experience in a healthcare setting or housekeeping/environmental services required. Two to four years of management experience in either setting preferred. 

Computer Skills                                                          

Knowledge of or ability to be trained on Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Kronos timekeeping system.
